Dornod

この場所について

Buir Lake lies in Khalkhgol soum, Dornod Province, on Mongolia's eastern borderlands. It is the largest freshwater lake in eastern Mongolia and part of the Amur River basin. Its open water, reed-fringed shore and surrounding steppe create a distinctive landscape for birdwatching, wildlife viewing and low-impact travel.

訪問に適した時期

June to September offers the most practical conditions for shoreline travel, wildlife observation and camping. Wind and storms can arrive quickly on the open lake, so check local forecasts before setting out.

行き方

Approach through Dornod Province toward Khalkhgol soum and the Buir Lake shoreline. This is a long overland journey from Ulaanbaatar; confirm fuel, accommodation, road condition and local access before departure.

知っておくこと

Lake Buir and its surrounding wetlands have been a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance since 2004. The area supports steppe wildlife and more than 236 bird species, so use established access points and keep disturbance low.

安全

Do not drive across wet ground or reed beds, keep a safe distance from wildlife and avoid entering the lake during strong wind or storms. Carry water, fuel, offline maps and recovery equipment; follow local and border-area guidance.

周辺

Nearby places include Khalkhgol soum, the Menen steppe and eastern Mongolia's historic Khalkhgol battlefield sites. Ask locally about current access and services.
